Australia Work Visa

The Australian government provides a range of visa options i.e., Australia Business visa, Australia Student visa, and Australia work Visa. Your qualifications and the kind of job you want—temporary or permanent—determine the type of visa you need.
Here is more information on the different types of work visas, the requirements for each, and how to apply. Prior to that, the following criteria must be met in order to be eligible for a visa:
  • Evidence of your English language proficiency, such as the required IELTS exam score
  • You must possess the necessary knowledge and expertise for the designated occupation.
  • Your chosen profession needs to be on the relevant Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
  • In Australia, a Skill Assessing Authority must evaluate your skills.
  • For your visa, you must be in good physical and moral health.

Australia Work Visa Options:

There are various options for work visas; three of them result in permanent residency, while the other two are temporary and only let you visit the country for a brief time.

Permanent Australia work Visa:

1. Visa under the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186):

You may be nominated for this visa by your employer under the Employer Nomination Scheme. Your profession must be included in the list of skilled occupations that qualify and must be relevant to your skills. You can stay and work in Australia indefinitely with this visa.
The following are the requirements for applicants:
  • age must not exceed 45.
  • have a strong command of English
  • Complete the relevant assessing authority’s less than three-year-old skills exam for their specific occupation.
  • possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • possess a license, be registered, or belong to a professional organization
  • abide by all character and fitness requirements

With this visa, you are allowed to do the following:

  • age must not exceed 45.

Requirements for the Subclass 186 visa

All Australian laws must be observed by visa holders and their families, and they must be prepared to work for their nominating employer for at least two years. If the visa was obtained outside of Australia, it must be ready to be used within six months of the date of issuance; if it was obtained inside Australia, it must be ready to be used within six months of the date of issuance.
A 457, TSS or working holiday visa can be sponsored by an employer. Permanent residency may result from this visa.

Skill Select

You can apply to the Select Skill program after being rejected by an employer. Through this service, employers, state and territorial governments, and others will have access to your information and be able to nominate you. You let the government know that you want to work in Australia when you submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Skill Select program.
To submit an EOI, your profession must be listed on the Skilled Occupations List. You will be ranked using a points test after receiving your EOI. If you have the necessary points, you are qualified for the Skill Select program.

2. Independent skilled visa (Subclass 189)

Before submitting an application for this visa, you must first submit an Expression of Interest via Skill Select and earn the necessary points. You can still apply for the Skilled Independent Visa even if your
The employer does not nominate you (Subclass 189).

Eligibility criteria

  • Knowledge of a profession listed on Australia’s Skilled Occupations List
  • An occupational skill evaluation report from a designated authority.
  • age less than 45.
  • meet the minimum criteria for skilled migration.
  • Obtain a minimum score of 65 to pass the points test.
  • meet the requirements for character and health

3. Visa for skilled workers (subclass 190)

If an Australian state or territory nominates you, your visa option is Subclass 190. These visa’s advantages are equivalent to those of the Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189).

Benefits of the Visa

You can stay in Australia permanently with this long-term visa. For the first five years of your visa, you can only travel to and from Australia. To leave the country and return as a permanent resident once the five-year period is over, you’ll need a Resident Return (RRV) visa (subclass 155 or 157).

Temporary Work Visas

1. Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa

Depending on the requirements of the employee, this visa enables people to work for two to four years. Australian businesses must provide proof that a skills shortage exists.
Workers may stay in the nation for two to four years with this visa.

The Temporary Skill Shortage Visa has three streams:

  • Stream of the short-term
  • The stream for the mid-term
  • The stream of labor agreements
A minimum of two years of work experience is required, and candidates must be under 45. They must work in one of the Consolidated Skilled Occupations and possess the skills required for the position.
Workers hired under this visa must receive the going wage from their employers.

You are allowed to do the following with a TSS visa:

  • Work for your sponsor for up to four years in Australia.
  • Family members should be listed on your visa application.
  • If they travel to Australia with you on this visa, your family members are permitted to live, work, and study there.
  • Until your visa expires, you are free to enter and exit Australia as often as you like.
  • You can apply for permanent residency if you meet the requirements.
  • Your company will need to submit a new nomination, and you will need to apply for a new visa if you want to stay for more than four years.

Regulations and obligations

  • If you are outside of Australia when the visa is issued, you must begin working within 90 days.
  • If you are outside of Australia when the visa is issued, you must begin working within 90 days of your arrival; if you are inside Australia, you must start working within 90 days of the visa’s issuance.
  • You are only permitted to work for the designated occupation and the employer who sponsored your visa.
  • You may enter and exit Australia as long as your visa is in force. However, the amount of time you spend away from Australia does not affect the duration of your visa.

2. Vacation visa for workers:

This visa is available to people between the ages of 18 and 30 who wish to work temporarily in Australia while on vacation there. The duration is twelve months. You must meet the legal requirements for good health and moral character while on vacation, and you may not bring any dependents with you.

With a working holiday visa, you can do the following:

  • Enter the country and remain there for six months.
  • Multiple times enter and leave the country.
  • Work with a worker for a maximum of six months.
  • You could decide to enroll in a four-month course of study during the visa period.

Eligibility criteria

  • Candidates must have experience in one of the GTI’s seven fields with a focus on the future.
  • They must make a minimum of $153,600 per year in Australia. (This high-income threshold fluctuates from fiscal year to fiscal year.)
  • They must have extensive professional experience.
  • If selected through GTI, applicants must show that their accomplishments have received recognition on a global scale and that they will use their skills to benefit Australia.
  • Candidates must have a history of notable professional achievements, such as working in senior management roles and publishing in international journals, magazines, and patents.

Processing costs and duration

The type of visa you are applying for determines how long it will take to process your application. The time needed to verify the information and any additional information that the authorities may request will be included in the processing time. It will typically take 6 to 12 months for your visa to be processed.
